Thompson In Team Of The Week (8/8/17)

Thompson In Team Of The Week (8/8/17)

Morecambe are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Garry Thompson in the two one victory over Cheltenham Town at the weekend at the Globe Arena was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

Explaining the choice - the EFL blurb read.

'Morecambe`s opening day win over Cheltenham Town was the perfect homecoming for veteran Thompson, bagging a brace on his return to the club he departed in 2008. Trailing 1-0, the 36-year-old levelled matters, before scoring a last-minute winner to clinch all three points.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Thompson for his recognition.

Full Team:

Mark Gillespie (Walsall), Willy Boly (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Jack O'Connell (Sheffield United), Patrick Bauer (Charlton Athletic), Jodi Jones (Coventry City), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds United), Andrew Shinnie (Luton Town), Garry Thompson (Morecambe), Bobby Reid (Bristol City), James Collins (Luton Town), Conor McAleny (Fleetwood Town).

Manager - Nathan Jones (Luton Town).
