Shrimps Pegged Back By Killie

Shrimps Pegged Back By Killie

Morecambe's preparations for the 2014/15 season; which is almost upon us now, saw them take on Kilmarnock on Saturday.

The Scottish premier league side, lined up as a replacement for Bradford City after that fixture had to be cancelled following the sides drawing each other in the league cup, were held to a 2-2 draw.

Both sides had first half chances but neither could take any so the half ended goalless.

It remained that way until 20-minutes from time when Kilmarnock broke through with Josh Magennis heading his side into the lead.

Paul Mullin, confirmed as a Shrimps player on a permanent short-term contract ahead of the game, marked his arrival from the bench with an immediate equaliser with him almost adding a second minutes later.

With 8-minutes to play Mullin did strike again with his second goal looking as though it would secure a win but another substitute Tope Obadeyi scored late on to see the game end in a two-two draw.

Morecambe: Roche, Beeley, Hughes (capt) (Doyle), Parrish, Wilson, Goodall (Drummond), Fleming (Wright), Williams (Kenyon), Devitt (Amond), Ellison (Mullin), Redshaw (Sampson). Subs not used: Arestidou, McGowan.
