Shrimps Look At Goodall

Jim Bentley has confirmed that free agent Alan Goodall will be spending some time with Morecambe this summer on trial.

The vastly experienced former Fleetwood Town midfielder was released by the club following their promotion to league 1 via the play-off final last season and has to date failed to find himself a new club but does apparently 'have options'.

One of these is with the Shrimps and he'll now be spending some time with the squad this week as training begins in preparation for the season ahead.

Bentley is impressed by his versatility to play in a variety of roles in midfield and defence, which could work in his favour and potentially see him come in as Tony Diagne's replacement following his exit for Lincoln City this week.

The Morecambe boss told the Visitor: 'We'll get a look at him and he'll look at us. He's got options and will be with us for a few days.

'He can play as a holding midfielder, a left back or a centre half.

'We need someone versatile to replace Tony Diagne in the squad and he's a good player who's got a winning mentality.'
