First Deal For Winger

First Deal For Winger

Jim Bentley has decided that Declan Watson is worthy of a professional contract, as such he's given him one.

A first professional deal for Morecambe, in football full stop, has been signed with him putting pen to paper on a one-year contract having impressed when turning out for the youth and reserve team sides last season.

Having impressed the Shrimps boss so much he felt that he was worthy of his contract and feels the next 12-months will give him the chance to further prove himself worthy of a longer-term contract at the Globe Arena.

The Morecambe boss told the official website: 'Declan is someone who has really impressed us with his performances and his attitude.

'He has played for the English Colleges side and grown in confidence since joining our college scheme.

'He really caught the eye in a reserve team game at Port Vale last year when he caused an experienced side a lot of problems with his pace and he is someone who we feel deserves a chance to show us what he can do over the next 12 months.'

Bentley also hopes to see continued youngsters progress through the clubs ranks.
