'If It's Football, It's Vital'

As A Group We Take It On The Chin

Jim Bentley was left cursing the same old Morecambe problems, left repeating himself once again following the latest defeat.

Morecambe had the chance of securing league two safety on Easter Monday but allowed a one-nil lead over Hartlepool to be lost with the Shrimps eventually slipping to a two-one defeat at Victoria Park in the end.

The Shrimps boss admits that 'words were exchanged' between all at fulltime but also knows that now isn't the time for 'finger pointing' and his side need to stay in this battle together.

Bentley told the Morecambe Visitor: 'They've had a go at each other, I've had a go at them, the usual heat of the moment stuff but they can't all go home and start pointing the fingers at others, as a group we've got to take it on the chin, me, the staff, the players, everyone's got to take responsibility and make sure we have a good week and stick together.'

Fortunately results again went Morecambe's way, but Bentley knows things chance quickly in football.

He is taking whatever positives he can from the game but is fed up with saying the same things over and over.

He added: 'We've got to try and take whatever positives there are from today and the two games before into a difficult away game at Wimbledon next week.

'That's all we can do is work hard and have a good week and come out fighting again but I'm sick of saying the same things. We lack a bit of quality to be honest. We went to pot today and it's not acceptable.'

You win and lose as a team but can Morecambe stay united to remain in the football league?
