Bentley Keen To Push On
Morecambe came into the season as one of the strong favourites to get relegated from league two.
Not only did the Shrimps defy that in the first half of the season they were pushing for promotion via the play-offs, in fact at one point they were within minutes of even going top of the table during the phenomenal unbeaten run they had.
It's such a fine line between the top and bottom in the division and Jim Bentley knows this, but also knows which part of it he would sooner be in.
Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire: 'There are big clubs who are strengthening and having a go to get away from those bottom two positions.
'If we'd have won on Saturday we would have been eighth.'
'We lost and we're in the bottom half, and you're looking at how the teams at the bottom have got on.
'I want to be in eighth position, looking at how we can claw the next team back to us.'
Now that Morecambe are without a win in six they've dropped down to 13th in the table and still remain both nine points from the play-offs and nine-points from relegation and avoiding a slip into that is something he wants to avoid.
Collecting some points is now the aim to make sure that Morecambe end the season in a strong position and place, which would be a great achievement given the clubs size and the finances available but Bentley knows that Morecambe are where they are 'on merit.'
