Bentley Looking For A Lift

Bentley Looking For A Lift

The signing of new players can give everyone a lift, and this is something that Jim Bentley hopes can be the case with Morecambe this month.

Funds being tight for the Shrimps are well documented but that hasn't stopped Bentley from expressing hopes that money can be found for a player or two to come in before the transfer window closes at the end of the month to help ease the strain on the squad.

Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire: 'I would like to add to the squad, it gives you a lift. We have been light on bodies since day one.

'We have had to name a youthful bench at times and we have some untried players. That is the way it is.'

Morecambe might not have won in three, but they're still some way clear of the relegation zone, which would've been the seasons objective but also within touching distance of the play offs as well. The problem is they've played three games more than most of the team in league two.

What's needed is well known to him, now he hopes this can be brought in to make sure the second half of the season goes well.

He added: 'We are not one of the bigger clubs, with the financial clout of some of the other teams around us.

'We knew we would be stretched for bodies throughout the season.

'Hopefully we can get in a position to freshen things up - we have played against teams and seen what a new face can do.

'I know exactly where we need to strengthen, and hope we can get blood in over the coming weeks.'
