'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bravery At A Price

It was important to put a bad run of form behind us and secure something against a club that has really slipped of late.

We duly did this on Saturday, however the win came at a price....

Mansfield started the season even better than Morecambe had but they've slipped away horribly and we made sure there poor form continued with a 2-1 win.

Kevin Ellison proved our match winner late on, but in scoring his diving header winner he sustained an eye socket injury in the process as well.

Bravely diving to head home the winner he sustained the fractured eye socket that looks likely to sideline him for a while, which is a big blow for us!

Jim Bentley knows all too well what a setback this could be for us, as he told the official website: 'Kevin has had a bit is stick recently and has admitted that he hasn't been at his best. But we all know what Kev is about and what he gives the team.

'On Tuesday might he was running around idle a teenager in the 90th minute of the game and has this amazing determination to win games.

'That is what he gives you and that is why I was so pleased that he was rewarded with the winner because he was incredibly brave.

'We are gutted to lose him for the next few weeks and we will hopefully have him back as soon as possible.'

The full extent of Ellison's injury should be known during the week, but what we do know is that he spent time in a Mansfield hospital on Saturday and will be out for at least a few weeks, as Bentley was able to confirm that much

One game that he won't miss will be next weekend, as we don't have one!

Due to the fact that we're out of the FA cup we've got a free weekend....
