It's Disappointing And It's Not Acceptable

It's Disappointing And It's Not Acceptable

We wouldn't have expected to win the FA cup, but we would've wanted to be involved in this competition a little longer than we were this season.

Morecambe entertaining Southend would have left many of us thinking would could at least make it into the second round, however the Shrimpers ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

Once again I say we wouldn't have won the cup but we've missed out on an opportunity to progress and earn some much needed money...

Jim Bentley knows we've missed that chance, he told BBC Radio Lancashire: 'It's disappointing and it's not acceptable. I was brought up on cup games and really looking forward to them.

'You have that dream of getting to the third round and hopefully getting a big tie, but we haven't done enough.'

In all honesty they tie was over within 10-minutes as two goals from Straker had the visitors in control.

Bentley had also conceded that many things were wrong on the day, it wasn't just down to the opening 10-minutes of the game.

He added: 'I'll hold my hands up when we've got it wrong and we got it wrong today - not just in the first 10 minutes, but the warm-up was slack and lethargic and we didn't go about our business the right way.'

Ahh well, we'll concentrate on the league now then, but still be bitterly disappointed with what we saw at the Globe Arena on Saturday afternoon...
