Shrimps Held At Sixfields

Morecambe travelled to Sixfields on Saturday and ground out a scoreless draw against a team not renowned for either its finesse or artistry.

In a game of few chances, the nearest the visitors came to scoring was when a header from Captain and Centre Half Mark Hughes was headed off the line after an hour.

Manager Jim Bentley pronounced himself pleased with a point on the road at the end of the match and particularly with the clean sheet his charges achieved.

The Shrimps remain just outside the play-off positions in ninth place and are now unbeaten in six games.

Aidy Boothroyd`s Northampton remain in difficulties in the relegation positions just one place higher than bottom club Accrington in twenty-third place.
