Shrimps Snap Up Former Bolton Striker

Shrimps Snap Up Former Bolton Striker

Morecambe have boosted the striking ranks with the signing of Jack Sampson.

The former England U19 international was released by Bolton earlier this summer and has signed a two-year deal at the Globe.

Jim Bentley, as he told the official website, is excited by this addition and thinks he'll offer the club plenty in the years ahead: 'Jack has a good pedigree and has loads of potential.

'I think he will have a lot to offer. He is still only young and we won't put too much pressure on him, but I am really pleased that he has joined us.

'He has played for England and comes highly recommended. I am sure he will make progress with us over the next two years.'

At 20 Sampson is still relatively young but definitely has his best years ahead of him, and all being well these can be with Morecambe!

Bentley Rues Missed Chances

Manager Jim Bentley has rued wasteful finishing in the weekend's loss to Mansfield Town.

Morecambe through the Mill. Again.

It`s less than two weeks ago since Morecambe entertained Mansfield in League Two at the Globe Arena. There, they took the lead and then tamely allowed the Stags to score twice in the dying minutes to take all three points back to Field Mill. The manner of the loss provoked a very uncharacteristic rant on live radio after the game from Shrimps` Manager Jim Bentley in which he accused members of his squad of being `weak` and said he would sell half of them immediately if such a thing was possible.
