'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Defender Joins Shrimps

The "positive news" that Jim Bentley anticipated would come to lift spirits at Morecambe has indeed come with the club completing the signing of Tony Diagne.

Having came to England, being Paris born, to sign for Forest the defender eventually ended up at Macclesfield and had been a regular with them since 2011.

Bentley, as he told the official website, was delighted to snap up the versatile defender. He said: 'I have watched him closely and always liked him. For a young lad he has played a lot of first team football and can play in several positions which is something we are looking for.

'I know there were a few clubs that were looking at him so I am really pleased that he has chosen Morecambe and I am sure he will do well for us.'

Diagne returns to the Football League from the Non-League outfit on a two-year deal.
