Failure To Kick On

Failure To Kick On

Morecambe have been consistently inconsistent but it's that inconsistency that has prevented them from "kicking on" this season according to Barry Roche.

Roche has been quite outspoken in the past few days and has now spoken about the inconsistencies shown by the side, he said: 'There's no other way to describe it other than inconsistent.

'We've said it so many times. We've put a couple of good results together and gone 'right, it's time to kick on' and then we've let ourselves down over the following weeks.

'That's the reason why we're in the position we're in.'

Morecambe have, more often than not, excelled against the "stronger sides" in League Two but it's the ones that they would expect to beat that they have found it tough against, so there is consistency there really!

The keeper added: 'We were excellent against Rotherham and we've been really good against other big sides this season. There's very few of the top 10 sides who've had an easy ride against us.

'We've let ourselves down in games where we feel we should have won. We've gone to Wimbledon a few weeks ago, absolutely played them off the park for 20-25 minutes and should have been three or four up but we've ended up losing the game 2-0.

'At Accrington, in the first 20 minutes there was only one team in the game and we lost 2-0. That's unfortunate really but, from our point of view, it's happened far too many times this season.'

This is something that the club will desperately be looking to improve over the summer going into next season.
