Morecambe Upset Table Toppers

Port Vale 0-1 Morecambe
16th February 2013
15:00
Vale Park

Morecambe stunned the then League Two leaders Port Vale at Vale Park on Saturday afternoon with a win.

Chances were few and far between in the first half with Morecambe coming closest to breaking this deadlock really.

Port Vale had a couple of early chances in the second half but failed to convert either, with Kevin Ellison guilty of a miss for Morecambe too.

However, just past the hour, The Shrimps broke through as Lewis Alessandra (63) bundled home the ball with a goal line clearance quickly after ensuring this lead stayed intact.

Port Vale pushed for an equaliser, even more so when Andrew Wright was sent off for a second booking, but Morecambe's 10-men held firm to win 1-0 and secure a third win in four games to keep alive a glimmer of a late play off push?
