Sky Blues see off Morecambe

Coventry 2-1 Morecambe
FA Cup 2nd Round
1st December 2012
15:00
Ricoh Arena

Morecambe battled gamely but couldn't quite manage a fightback and exited the FA Cup in the second round following Saturday's defeat at Coventry.

Few chances were created in the first half but after Barry Roche brought down Gary McSheffrey Coventry had a chance to take the lead from the spot. McSheffrey (38) stepped up himself with his penalty sending the league one side into the break ahead.

Less than 20-seconds into the second half Carl Baker (46) extended The Sky Blues' lead with a fine strike and midway through the half Coventry thought it was three but an offside flag denied them.

A 25-yard screamer from Kevin Ellison (77) brought Morecambe back into the game but it wasn't enough with Coventry holding on to win 2-1 and take a place in round three.
