Preston end Shrimps' run

Morecambe 2-4 Preston
Johnstone's Paint Northern 2nd Round

Globe Arena

Morecambe lost a lead, fought back to level but then eventually bowed out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the Globe on Tuesday night to league one side Preston.

Morecambe were able to go into the break one-nil up when new loan signing Jordan Mustoe (21) put them ahead.

Early in the second half Preston equalised when Graham Cummins (56) scored with substitute Akpo Sodje (75) then putting the visitors two-one up. The hosts levelled within minutes though when Richard Brodie (78) successfully converted a penalty.

With a possible penalty shootout looming The Lilywhites retook the lead when Paul Huntington (81) scored late on with an injury-time second from Sodje (90+4) securing a 4-2 Preston win, and seeing them into round three.
