'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cheltenham 2 Morecambe 0

The Shrimps slumped to their third league defeat in a row on Friday night at Cheltenham, conceding two goals without reply to Darren Carter.

Just ninety seconds were on the clock when Barry Roche was beaten by Carter for the first time; the Robin's striker netted his second during injury time by which time Jim Bentley's team had been reduced to ten men: Kevin Ellison received a straight red card with less than an hour gone for what has been described as a head-butt on Cheltenham's Steve Elliot.

Morecambe are now nineteenth having only managed one draw in their last five games. The heady days of the beginning of the season which started with away wins at Blackpool and Exeter are rapidly becoming a distant memory. If the team fail to win at home for the first time this season on Tuesday night against mid-table Chesterfield, the team with one of the smallest squads and lowest attendances in the Football League could find themselves in VERY deep doo-doo.
