Jevons Leaves Morecambe

Jevons Leaves Morecambe

Morecambe have announced that Phil Jevons has been released from the club on the free transfer. The former Everton forward has been told by Jim Bentley he does not feature in his first team plans for next season and so has been released from his two year contract in order to seek first team opportunities elsewhere. Bentley told the clubs official website 'I told Phil that he would not be in the plans for next season and would not be involved much before the end of this year and this deal will hopefully give him the chance to get himself sorted with a new club as soon as he can.`

'Phil is a great lad and has been a terrific professional. He has been a fantastic player for us and scored some vital goals. He really does leave with our best wishes and I hope he gets a deal as soon as possible.'

Jevons joined Morecambe in 2009 initially on a season long loan from Huddersfield Town and after finishing the top goal scorer at the club the move was made a permanent one the following summer.

Since then Jevons goal scoring record has not been so prolific and he managed only 8 goals last season and 6 this. His last goal for the Shrimps first team came in the Jonstones Paint Trophy when he scored Morecambe`s first as we came back from 2-0 down against Preston North End.

Thanks for the memories Jev!
